7:00 pmAndrew Fellows | The Round Church, Cambridge

'Ye shall be as gods'. The temptation of self-deification is as old as the book of Genesis. In this talk, Andrew Fellows takes us to the fundamentally religious core of transhumanism and asks some hard questions of our newfound techno-religiosity.

Cambridge Saturday School of Theology 2011. The church was cold and lifeless, infected with worldliness and a lack of vigor. Love for Christ and the Bible was at a low ebb. That is until John Wesley and George Whitefield set the world on fire and revived the nation’s spiritual life with passionate and powerful gospel preaching! Or did they? Was all as rosy as it seemed within the Evangelical movement? Or did revival rivalries almost tear it apart from within?   [embed]https://roundchurchcambridge.s3.eu-west-2.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/12150959/lee-gatiss-from-reformation-to-revival-18th-century-evangelicals-session-2.mp3[/embed]...

Cambridge Saturday School of Theology 2011. The Puritans saw themselves as pilgrims, warriors and servants of Christ in an age of great conflict. From them we get our word 'puritanical' but were they as bad as that makes them sound? What was it that made people either love them or hate them? And what can we learn from them to reinvigorate our lives as Christians today? Part 2.   [embed]https://roundchurchcambridge.s3.eu-west-2.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/12150714/lee-gatiss-from-reformation-to-revival-17th-century-puritans-session-2.mp3[/embed]...
