Round Church Visitor Centre

Supervision of Children

Children under 13 must be accompanied by a responsible adult when visiting the Round Church.

Adults accompanying children aged under 18 are responsible for the safeguarding of the children in their group. Groups of children must have appropriate adult supervision.

Health and Safety

While we take all precautions to ensure that visitors are kept safe, visitors should be aware that the Round Church is an old building and should watch out for hazards such as steps and uneven surfaces.

Accessibility

Due to the historic nature of the building, the Round Church is not all easily accessible by wheelchair or mobility scooter. There is step-free access from the street but please be aware that this is via an uneven surface. The ambulatory and exhibition have step-free access. There is a small step down into the nave and another step up into the chancel. There is step-free access to the film via an aisle between the pews, which is wide enough for most wheelchairs and mobility scooters. The film is generally viewed from seating on the pews; it is possible for 1-2 wheelchair users to view the film at a time. Please feel free to get in contact with us if you have any questions ahead of your visit.

Group Visits

It is helpful if groups of more than 10 people can get in touch in advance on bookings@christianheritage.org.uk to arrange a visit.

Groups of more than 30 people at a time are not generally permitted. Groups of more than 15 people are not generally permitted around a guided walk start-time (usually 2pm-2:40pm, Wednesday to Saturday).

Payment for Visitor Centre admission is by cash or card upon arrival. We can arrange advanced payment for group visits if preferred.

Cancellation of group visits: If you have chosen to pay upon arrival, we just ask that you let us know if you are no longer planning to come. If payment has been made in advance, we will be happy to refund this if you can’t make it after all. We cannot make partial refunds, so if opting for advanced payment, we will not be able to refund any minor discrepancies in the numbers of people visiting.

Facilities

We regret that we do not have toilets available for public use at the Round Church. We are happy to make exceptions for those who have purchased a ticket for the guided walk.

Guided Walks

Supervision of Children

Children under 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult when going on a guided walk.

Adults accompanying children aged under 18 are responsible for the safeguarding of the children in their group. Groups of children must have appropriate adult supervision.

Health and Safety

While the guide will try to warn you of potential hazards, walkers are responsible for their own personal safety, and that of any children for whom they are responsible. Walkers should particularly watch out when crossing roads and walking over the uneven surfaces found throughout Cambridge’s city centre.

Accessibility

The route is pushchair accessible but not wheelchair accessible. Public tours involve walking at a moderate to fast pace – please contact us to arrange a private tour if you require a slower walking pace.

Inclusions

While we are on friendly terms with many of the Cambridge colleges and aim to visit approximately 2 colleges as part of the guided walk, we cannot guarantee college entry on any given day. Guided walks are not generally able to go inside colleges during university exam term (April to June).

Due to college restrictions, visitors with dogs will need to remain outside any colleges visited.

Guided walk tickets include admission to the Round Church Visitor Centre during opening times. Unless otherwise agreed, the admission included in the guided walk ticket applies to the same person/people who attend the guided walk and is valid on the day of the guided walk, and on the one day on which the Round Church is open either side of this.

Privacy

We may sometimes take photos of guided walks for publicity purposes. Unless you tell us otherwise, we will assume that any adults are happy for their photos to be used in this way. We will not take photos of children without first obtaining written parental consent.

Cancellation

For public walks, customers will receive a full refund if cancelling at least 24 hours before the start of the guided walk. Customers cancelling less than 24 hours before the start of the guided walk will not be entitled to a refund but we will often be happy to reschedule your booking to another day when availability allows; please email us on bookings@christianheritage.org.uk to enquire about this.

For private walks, payment must be made at least 24 hours before the guided walk start-time. In the event of cancellation within 24 hours of the start-time, no refund will be given.

We may cancel a guided walk if no one has reserved a place 2 hours before the start-time. In rare circumstances, we may need to cancel a guided walk when bookings have already been made, for instance when fewer than 2 people have signed up by the start-time, or due to illness of the guide if we are unable to arrange a replacement. Customers will receive a full refund in the event of cancellation by the operator due to minimum numbers not being met or other unforeseen circumstances.
